Hello & Greetings,
In our last newsletter, we stated that Inpop would be sending out
information and the new Petra song link through johnwschlitt.com. This
decision has since been changed; Inpop is now working on their own email
system and will deliver the information to you directly.
We will post the link to the download site on our homepage, so you can get
it there also.
In response to questions and inquiries regarding Petra's new album, we're
including portions of a recent interview with John by Timothy Sensabaugh of
the National Arts Review. This in-depth interview can be found in its
entirety at: http://www.nationalartsreview.com/JohnSchlittInterview.html
Check out this page also, for thoughts on Petra by the author:

THE NEW ALBUM:
"I think the best way to compare it would be a combination of "This Means
War", "On Fire" and maybe a little "Beyond Belief." I'm telling you, if it's
anything it would be like "On Fire"; the first three songs."
"... As long as Petra is still happening... and the new Petra is gonna blow
people away. The new record is probably the rockiest thing we have done in
10 years ...it's hard to think about a solo record right now when you know
that the next Petra record is gonna rock people's socks off, and you get a
funny feeling that it's probably gonna be pretty hot."
A PETRA TOUR:
"We're already doing a bunch of festivals that we were able to fit in... We
don't feel real safe to do a summer tour right now with no album. Hopefully
we're gonna jump on board a tour possibly or we're gonna create our own tour
in the fall. That's about the time the record should come out and we
certainly want to support it."
PETRA - BAND OR MINISTRY?
"I would agree with them. Yeah, it's a ministry and who cares who's in the
band. And people are gonna have to realize that. Yes, I totally agree with
them and that's why we've lasted for 30 years, because the ministry is
bigger then the band. And it's hard for people to understand that, they
don't understand what a Christian band is about. We have seen lives changed
for 30 years because we have chosen to put ministry first."
"Now don't get me wrong, it's fun to play rock n roll. It's fun to have
people enjoy you and say "I love your singing" or "I love your guitar
playing, you're my example." That's cool and if we could have had four or
five guys that could last for 30 years and still be cool and like it... so
it would have been fabulous."
"Bob left the band because he had a son and wife he needed to be with. He
did home schooling and that was important to him."
"Again, Petra is Petra by name only... I don't care. It's like when you have
been doing something for 30 years there is something that is common and it's
ministry. There is still some common elements to Petra that is gonna show
up even more in the future."
Thank you to the National Arts Review for sharing portions of this interview
with us.
