November 2002 Hallo Leute! Ich bin's, John, ich wollte Euch danken für Eure Geduld mit meiner Webseite. Bitte entschuldigt das Durcheinander mit der Änderung des Domainnamens, aber oft, wenn man es mit bestimmten Personalitäten zu tun hat, muss man die Konzequenzen erleiden. Aber ganz herzlichen Dank, dass Ihr die neue Domain gefunden habt und am Ball seid! Eine Menge aufregender Dinge geschehen mit PETRA über Weihnachten. Ersteinmal ist es Weihnachten - mein Lieblingsurlaub im ganzen Jahr ... und ich liebe Thanksgiving auch sehr, weil meine Frau eine super Köchin ist! Ich glaube, dass viel für PETRA gebetet wird. Wir schätzen es und können es fühlen. Wir glauben, dass Gott gerade dabei ist, große Dinge zu tun; er hat das bereits getan. Die Plattenfirma, Inpop, hat uns sehr unterstützt und sie scheinen auf ein neues Album fixiert zu sein, ein PETRA-Rock-Album, nachdem viele von Euch gefragt haben; jetzt geht es ans Songschreiben. Bob hört natürlich nie auf, Songs zu schreiben. Wir versuchen eine Richtung zu finden, den Musikstil, der das PETRA Format trifft, aber auch ein Album, das auch für verschiedene Generationen interessant ist. Ich denke, dass die Band die Sache wirklich super macht. Sie sind grossartige Musiker und echte Männer Gottes. Als Lead-Sänger, als Verantwortlicher für die Organisation des Live-Parts bin ich sehr stolz auf sie und danke Gott für das, was er uns auf dem Weg mitgebracht hat. Wenn ich auf das vergangene Jahr zurücksehe - vor allem jetzt, wo es November ist - gab' es starke Ups und Downs. Aber wirklich, alles in allem denke ich, war es eher meine Perpektive und wenn man nachdenkt, dann sieht man, wie Gott in so vielen verschiedenen Wegen mit so vielen verschiedenen Leuten gearbeitet hat. Alles, was ich sagen kann, ist danke, Jesus, und vielleicht für eine Änderung, kann ich beginnen, die Zukunft mit den Augen von Jesus Christus zu sehen, eher als mit den Augen von einem verantwortungsvollen Menschen, der nicht nicht immer sicher ist. Ich stehe hier vor Gott und sage: "Danke Gott für die Vergangenheit und danke für die Zukunft." Was die Solo-Sache angeht - Leute, das ist ein Up und Down für mich. Ich habe eine Solo-Platte, wie ihr alle wisst, die seid 2 Jahren " in der Kanne" ist, was bedeutet, dass die Musik eventuell schon nicht mehr up-to-date ist, also das ist ein kleines Anliegen von mir ... obwohl es ein sehr scharfes, ungewöhnliches Album wäre, aber es wäre immer noch sehr passend. Ich arbeite auch mit einigen Schlüsselpersonen in meinem Studio zu Hause und beginne eine neue Musik zu kreieren. Ich werde nie mit den Solo-Projekten aufhören, aber ich habe, wie immer, PETRA an erste Stelle gestellt. Ich war total zuversichtlich, dass ich sehr bald ein weiteres Solo-Album herausbringen würde, was wir immer noch planen. Wir haben mit der Plattenfirma gesprochen, ob wir dieses Album über die Webseite verkaufen können, also behaltet das mal im Hinterkopf. Die Webmasters der Seite würden es im Handumdrehen in voller Grösse online haben. Ich ziehe es vor, es ganz normal zu veröffentlichen, aber auf der anderen Seite, damit es keine Verwirrung in Bezug auf PETRA gibt, würde es vielleicht das Beste sein, es über die Webseite zu veröffentlichen und es dort zu verkaufen. Ich danke Euch allen für Euer starkes Interesse daran und hoffentlich wird es möglich sein, es bald herauszubringen! Leute, wenn Gott es auf Euer Herz legt, dann betet bitte für uns. Aqui é o John, só quero agradecer a vocês por sua perseverância com meu website. Desculpe pela confusão com a mudança do nome de domínio, mas às vezes quando você está lidando com personalidades, temos de sofrer as consequências. Mas, muitíssimo obrigado por encontrar este novo website e se ligar nele. Temos muitas coisas empolgantes acontecendo com o Petra na época do Natal. Em primeiro lugar, é Natal - meu feriado favorito de todas as ocasiões ... e eu na verdade gosto do feriado de Ação de Graças também, porque minha esposa é uma ótima cozinheira! Eu acho que as muitas orações por nós no Petra tem subido. Nós apreciamos isto e podemos sentí-lo. Nós acreditamos que Deus está pronto pra fazer grandes coisas; Ele já tem feito isso. A gravadora, InPop, tem nos apoiado muito e parece que eles estão considerando a tendência para um álbum de rock, um disco de rock do Petra que muitos de vocês tem pedido. Agora é uma questão de compor. Bob, claro, tem continuado a compor o tempo todo. Estamos tentando achar essa direção, que tipo de música se ajustará com o formato do Petra, mas também um álbum que será atual o bastante para as várias gerações. Assim resumindo, eu acho que a banda esta indo fantásticamente; eles são ótimos músicos, ótimos caras, e homens espirituais. Como um vocalista principal, como a pessoa responsável pela organização da parte viva, estou muito satisfeito e muito orgulhoso deles e eu agradeço a Deus pelo que Ele tem colocado ao longo do nosso caminho este ano. Olhando pra trás - especialmente agora que é Novembro - olhando pra trás neste ano, tem havido muitos altos e baixos. Mas realmente, totalizando, eu acho que tem sido mais minha perspectiva e quando você olha atentamente, você vê como Deus tem trabalhado de muitas maneiras diferentes e com muitas pessoas diferentes. Tudo que eu posso dizer é obrigado, Jesus, e talvez por uma mudança eu posso começar a ver o futuro com os olhos de Jesus Cristo, ao invés dos olhos de um homem preocupado e inseguro. Eu fico aqui na presença de Deus, dizendo "Obrigado Senhor pelo passado e obrigado pelo futuro." Quanto a minha carreira solo - cara, isto pra mim é algo que vai de cima a baixo. Eu tenho um álbum solo, como vocês bem sabem, que tem sido "deixado pra escanteio" por quase 2 anos, o que significa que é possivel que a música está quase desatualizada demais agora, assim isto é um preocupaçãozinha minha ... embora foi um álbum muito bem lapidado e incomum quando nós o fizemos, assim é provável ser ainda muito apropriado. Também estou trabalhando com pessoas chaves no meu estúdio em casa e começando a criar alguma música nova. Minha atividade solo é algo que nunca abandono, mas novamente, com o Petra eu tenho que colocá-lo em primeiro lugar como eu sempre fiz. Estou totalmente confiante que eu vou lançar um outro álbum solo muito breve, o que é provável que ainda façamos. Também temos conversado com a gravadora sobre a possibilidade de colocar este álbum a venda apenas no website, então lembre-se disso. This is John, just thanking you for your perseverance with my website. Sorry about the confusion of changing domain names, but sometimes when you're dealing with personalities, we have to suffer the consequences. But thank you so much for finding this new website and sticking with it! We have a lot of exciting things happening with Petra over the Christmas season. First of all, it is Christmas - my favorite holiday of all times. and I actually like Thanksgiving a lot too, because my wife's a great cook! I think a lot of prayers have been going up for us in Petra. We appreciate it and we can feel it. We believe that God is ready to do great things; He has already done that. The record company, Inpop, has been very supportive of us and it looks like they're looking towards a rock album, a Petra rock record that a lot of you have been asking for. Now it's just a matter of writing. Bob, of course, has continued to write all the time. We're trying to find that direction, that type of music that will fit the Petra format, but also be an album that will be current enough to be useful for several generations. So all in all, I think the band is doing fantastic; they are great musicians, great guys, and Godly men. As a lead singer, as the person responsible for the organization of the live portion, I'm very pleased and very proud of them and I thank God for what He's put across our path this year. Looking back - especially now that it's November - looking back at this year, it's been very up and down. But really, all in all, I think it's been more my perspective and as you look in hindsight, you see how God has been working in so many different ways with so many different people. All I can say is thank you, Jesus, and maybe for a change I can start seeing the future with the eyes of Jesus Christ, rather than the eyes of a concerned insecure human. I stand here in front of God, saying "Thank you Lord for the past and thank you for the future." As far as the solo thing - boy, that's an up and down thing for me. I've got a solo record, as you all well know, that has been "sitting in the can" for about two years, which means that it's possible that the music is almost too dated now, so that's a little concern of mine. although it was a very cutting unusual record when we did it, so it may still be very appropriate. I'm also working with some key people in my studio at home and starting to create some new music. I'm never letting go of the solo thing, but again, with Petra, I have to put it first as I always have. I was totally confident that I was going to put out another solo record very soon, which we still may. We've been talking with the record company about possibly putting this record up for sale just on my website, so keep that in mind. The webmasters and people in charge of this site will - I guarantee you - the minute they get a chance to have it, it will be out there in its full glory! I prefer having it out in public, but then on the other hand, to be less confusing towards Petra, it might be the best thing to put it on the website and just sell it through there. Das ist gut, denn ich bin extrem beschäftigt ... hatte nicht viele Shows aus welchem Grund auch immer, aber bei den Shows, die wir hatten ..., die Band war genial. Es ist der 8. Dezember und am 9. Dezember machen wir uns auf nach Indien, was eine echte Herausforderung für uns ist. Wir werden dort für 8 Tage und 3 Shows sein, und werden später davon berichten. Es ist einfach eine Menge Spaß! Ich persönlich werde genau im Anschluss in die Schweiz für ein Solo-Concert fahren und einigen Spass in einer Kirche zusammen mit einer Musikdienstgruppe haben, danach nach Hause kommen rechtzeitig zu Weihnachten; das ist eine tolle Art, das Jahr u beenden. Ich freue mich wirklich sehr darauf. Die Tage zwischen Thanksgiving und Weihnachten ist immer meine Lieblingszeit und ich hoffe, dass es ein Segen für Euch alle wird. We just got back from India about two days ago, and it feels like I'm still on their time! I will say that the people were fantastic. My idea of India has been totally changed. It's a fascinating country and the people are absolutely gracious. We had an excellent time - we did three shows, and all three shows were amazing. It was just a real thrill for us and a great way to end the year for Petra. It's just a reminder that God is God all over the world, and there is no difference. For us to be able to be a part of that is a total honor. We are so thankful to the people who came and saw the show, and I just really want to say thank you to those involved for a fantastic and a successful tour. This report is a bit short because I'm off to Switzerland in a few hours to do a solo concert with a wonderful church ministry group. I'll be returning in time for Christmas, and after that we'll do a complete review, looking back at the past year, seeing what God has done and praising Him for it! Talk to you then... Acabamos de regresar de India hace dos dìas, ¡y se siente como si aùn estuvièramos en su horario! Dirè que la gente fue fantàstica.Mi idea de la India ha cambiado totalmente.Es un paìs fascinante y la gente es absolutamente amables-hicimos tres shows, y los tres shows fueron sorprendentes.Fue realmente emocionante para nosotros y una gran manera de terminar el año para Petra. Es tan sòlo un recordatorio de que Dios es Dios en todo el mundo, y que no hay diferencias, por lo que para nosotros fue un gran honor ser parte de eso.Estamos muy agradecidos a la gente que vino y viò el show, y sòlo quiero decir en verdad gracias a aquellos invlucrados for un fantàstico y exitoso tour. El reporte es un poco corto porque saldrè para Suiza en unas cuantas horas para hacer un concierto yo solo con un maravilloso grupo ministerial de una iglesia. John ------------------------------------- Hallo an alle ! Ich bin gerade vor ungefähr 2 Tagen aus Indien zurückgekehrt und ich fühle mich zeitlich so, als wäre ich immer noch dort! Ich möchte sagen, dass die Leute dort fantastisch waren. Mein Eindruck von Indien hat sich total geändert. Es ist ein faszinierendes Land und die Leute sind absolut freundlich und nett. Wir hatten eine exzellente Zeit - 3 Shows und alle 3 Shows waren super. Eine richtige Herausforderung für uns und eine grossartige Art und Weise für PETRA, das Jahr zu beenden. Es ist eine Erinnerung, dass Gott Gott der ganzen Welt ist, und dass es keinen Unterschied gibt. Für uns ist es eine totale Ehre, ein Teil davon zu sein. Wir sind den Besuchern unserer Shows so dankbar und ich möchte all' den Beteiligten für eine fantastische und erfolgreiche Show danken. Dieser Bericht ist ein bisschen kurz weil ich schon auf dem Sprung in die Schweiz bin in ein paar Stunden, um ein Solo-Concert zusammen mit einem wunderbaren Musikdienst in einer Gemeinde zu geben. Ich werde rechtzeitig zu Weihnachten zurückkkehren und hinterher werden wir einen kompletten Bericht senden im Rückblick auf das vergangene Jahr und das, was Gott getan hat und wir werden ihm dafür die Ehre geben ! Nós voltamos da Índia há cerca de dois dias atrás, e ainda tenho a sensação que estou no horário de lá! Eu direi que as pessoas foram fantásticas. Minha idéia sobre a Índia foi totalmente mudada. É um país fascinante e as pessoas são absolutamente amáveis. Nós tivemos um período excelente - fizemos três shows, e todos os três shows foram incríveis. Foi apenas uma verdadeira emoção para nós e uma ótima maneira de terminar o ano para o Petra. É somente uma lembrança que Deus é Deus do mundo inteiro, e não há nenhuma diferença. É uma honra total para nós podermos ser uma parte disso. Nós somos tão gratos às pessoas que vieram e assistiram o show, e eu na verdade só quero dizer obrigado para todos envolvidos nessa fantástica e bem-sucedida turnê. Este relato é um só um resuminho, porque eu estou indo para a Suíça dentro de algumas horas para fazer um show solo com um maravilhoso grupo de ministério da igreja. It's the end of the year, and what a year it's been, both up and down! I personally think it's ended on a very "up note." We had an unbelievable chance to go to a new country - India - which totally was a pleasure for us. A lot of ministry, a lot of first time events were accomplished, and the people we worked for were fantastic. We're looking forward to going again, and I think we will. I think a lot of doors were opened, and all we can do is ask God to guide us through the next step. It's absolutely a fertile land for the Christian walk; the country apparently is more Christian than I ever thought it was before. It's exciting to see how things are growing. The people we met were absolutely phenomenal; couldn't be friendlier, couldn't be nicer to us, and I would love to go there more often. Then I got a chance to go to Switzerland, myself, two days later after coming home from India - it was a busy month! I enjoyed that immensely too, being able to meet new friends and sing with them in a solo capacity, with five other singers doing some special Christmas material. That was fun! That was great and a nice way to end the year for me personally; and with Petra in India, it was a great way for the band to be encouraged and to be reminded of what the ministry of Petra is all about. We hope that everyone who is reading this has had a great Christmas and will have a happy New Year. We're looking forward to an exciting 2003; I'm sure you all are too! Please keep praying for us; we are excited about the new record we're working on - Bob's doing a lot of writing, the guys are starting to write for it also, and believe it or not - I'm thinking about it myself! So it's just a lot of exciting things happening at this moment, but keep praying for us, for our families, and for the financial side of things, as always. A lot of fantastic things have happened to me in the last month or so. I'm a grandfather now - that's very strange for me to say, but yes, it's true! I have a grandson; his name is Max Needham. His parents are doing very, very well, and excited about the fact that their family has increased. He is a very healthy boy, growing by leaps and bounds every day. He's finally opening his eyes; he hasn't recognized me yet, but that will come - I guarantee it! Our website anniversary is today, which is also my birthday. I remember our website 'launch day' like it was yesterday, and how excited Curt Jones and I were to finally have this site up and running after building it via email and instant messaging. The Lord has really blessed us in making this site happen. It started with a simple comment I made on The Petra Zone on how I'd like to build a site for John, but not having HTML knowledge made it rather impossible. Curt then volunteered to 'build' if I could supply the 'lumber.' And build we did - for months on end! Thank you Curt, for making a long-time wish come true. I also want to thank all the 'carpenters' - all the Petheads who have sent contributions and additions, which has greatly added to the content and historical value of the site. A special thank you to Michael Jones - our 'interior designer' - for coming on board to help rebuild when we lost our previous site, and getting everything back online with a new domain name and server. As far as my solo career goes, my own record is still being worked on up in Peoria and it's actually moving forward, but here in Nashville the focus is more on Petra at this moment. In other words, I'm a busy man! I have several great projects with my woodworking side of things, so a busy man is a happy man, in my case, and I seem to be a happy man! This is a rare opportunity to hear Mark Kelly, in addition to John Lawry, Bob Hartman, Louie Weaver and John. This interview is full of history, taking you back to the days when a concert was huge event, where the controversy over Christian rock music was in full swing and when parents questioned the validity of using rock music to pull kids in to hear the Gospel. Esto tambièn nos habilitarà para agregar màs entrevista en audio, canciones raras de encontrar ¡e incluso videos! Estos mismos petheads estàn en el proceso de convertir un gran nùmero de videos en un formato para que puedan ser vistos por internet, ¡para que puedan ser capaces de ver videos de John como solista, su tour de Unfit for Swine, conciertos en vivo de 1991 y videos de Petra que incluyen "Whole World", "Who do you listen to?" y màs!, Enviaremos un boletìn especial donde informaremos cuàndo estaràn listos,¡asì que permanezcan en sintonìa!
